This entry includes long chain scorpion potassium channel toxins [1-2] and and scorpine-like peptides [3,4], which exhibit strong antimicrobial effects as well as cytolytic activity against eukaryotic cells [3]. Thi is the cysteine-stabilized alpha/beta (CS-alpha/beta) domain, which is more closely related to invertebrate defensins, than to the classical scorpion toxins. Its structure shows an alpha-helix along with one beta-sheet stabilized by three disulfide bridges folding into a CS-alpha/beta motif [5].
