UniProtKB description:  Displays both diguanylate cyclase (DGC) and c-di-GMP-specific phosphodiesterase (PDE) activity (PubMed:23729646). Probably modulates DGC and PDE activities, and thus c-di-GMP levels, in a growth mode-dependent manner (PubMed:23729646). May act as a PDE under planktonic growth conditions and as a DGC in biofilms (PubMed:23729646). During biofilm formation, it specifically activates alginate biosynthesis via generation of a localized c-di-GMP pool in the vicinity of the alginate biosynthesis protein Alg44 (PubMed:19088322).
